Happy Children come with Adult Frustration

Since we have moved to the new place, we have had to make some major adjustments.  We went from a very quiet neighborhood with no children to one with numerous children.  It is louder and brings much more frustration when it comes time to put your own child to bed or calm him/her down when they see other children playing.  We signed a two year lease for our new home because we wanted to lock in our price and we are very tired of moving every single year.  So, of course, we are going to have to get used to the new life!

Yesterday we bought a cheap little pool for Noah to play in.  We figured if we got a small pool that it wouldn't be intended for other children to be in it with him unless invited.  Well, of course, our neighbor has over 11 people living in their 3 bedroom home and they are from Iraq, so they don't always understand what we are saying.  Luckily one of the children that is 11 years of age can understand English pretty well, but the rest...not so much.  Steven blew up the pool when we got home from the store and of course they were watching from their house the entire time.  As soon as water was in it they were over in our yard.  Steven said, "No, please let Noah play alone right now, we just bought this."  Yet, the children did not understand and started ripping off their clothes and jumped right in.  We had pulled it over near Noah's play-set so it would have a slide to go down and that just made it even worse with multiple children.

BUT....Noah had a blast playing with them, so we let the ruckus continue.  Hopefully we will be able to establish some rules the next time because only the one child seems to listen, the rest disobey me over and over.  It is great that Noah is making friends because he is so happy when he gets to play with them, but it gets very frustrating when the other children do not listen or understand.

So, here are some pictures from his time in the pool yesterday....wasn't able to get a good one of Noah alone really, but maybe later today!  Enjoy!

Every Day Bring Something New

When you live with a child and spend every moment possible with him or her, you realize that there is change happening right before your eyes.  It is hard to see when you are there every day, but then you look at pictures or videos and say, "WOW," I hadn't even noticed.  Well, our little baby boy isn't so little anymore.  A two and a half year old lives with us now and surely without my saying...you already know he rules the house too.

Now we have attitude...if we don't like what you say..."NO," "NO WAY," "STOP," "OKAY...GEEZ," "SHH, QUIET."  These are just a few of things that have been coming out of his mouth! Oh Noah, you may think you rule...but just wait...you are in for a rude awakening from Mommy and Daddy!  Although, it is quiet adorable to watch a toddler tell you to "shh" and "quiet" or even when he doesn't want to hear what he has done wrong and the "okay...geez" comes out....but at some point we do have to stop this behavior otherwise it will continue and then that would just be awful.  So...maybe we can catch a few on video for our laughing pleasure and I will surely post if we can!

Also...this new attitude brings door slamming.  If he gets up from his nap before he has gone to sleep....I yell, "get back in bed!"  Then I hear him slam his door and rudely jump in bed.  OH MY GOODNESS!  I know, I know....this is only the beginning!

So, these are just a few of the updates I have about our toddler with a personality!  I hope you enjoy the update!  :)

The Lick Monster

Here is just a wee bit of introduction to the lick monster!  Sometimes when we are putting Noah down for bed and go to give kisses, he grabs us so hard, pulls in tight and just licks!  He is crazy!  But this is daytime licking lol!  Enjoy the silly boy!

The Circus Continues

Well, things are still quite a ruckus on our end.  I have had some quiet today as Noah is beginning to get a little better with understanding that nap time is different than play time.  The kitchen in our new home is almost fully functioning now!  Maybe by the end of the day we won't have any more boxes in there!  That would be wonderful!

Steven and I are working on reconnecting with each other and putting ourselves on the same page.  So far, this has been working very well.  Sometimes life just puts so much stress on you trying to tear things apart, but any person can put their mind to it and sort it all out!  I think each day that goes by Steven and I are a little bit closer and communicate a little bit better too.

We are trying some new techniques with raising our family and learning to function in a more adequate fashion.  Hopefully in a few months we won't be the only ones noticing and outsiders will notice as well.  Wish us luck on this journey!

Yep...he was asleep under there...See...I checked!

I can't tell if he is comfortable..Can you?

Our New Additions

Noah is definitely a cat person!
AIDEN CAVALIER DANIEL
CORALINE *CORA* DANIEL
Pretty boy!  Siberian Husky Mix (pretty sure with German Shepherd)

Our Toddler sure is Terrible! ;)

Okay all of you mothers and fathers out there....you know what we are going through!  We are fully in the terrible two stage and BOY have we hit them hard!  Noah is picky as can be!  This week Daddy is off to go see Uncle Bryan graduate from Fort Benning (CONGRATULATIONS UNCLE BRYAN!!!!)....so Mommy is working hard core on establishing a routine now that we are moved into the new home.

Last night was the first since we moved, that Noah actually went to sleep on the first try putting him down to bed.  I think this move has been rough on Noah!  I know he is enjoying the new house, but I think he is still unsettled himself.

He is starting to talk more!  Finally he is reaching a point where he at least attempts to say a word, then after a few tries he normally gets it.  Also, FINALLY, he is using Mommy, Mom, and Mama for me instead of Daddy :)  Funny how his first word was Mom, but then it disappeared from his dictionary!  But now it is crystal clear!  It makes me very happy!  I think he will be much more understandable in just a few weeks.  Every day that goes by he is trying to talk more and more.  We are very pleased!

As for potty training....I am hoping that once the speech comes along so will that because right now the lack of communication is a serious missing factor!

But, even though our little guy is 2 1/2 years old and has reached the terrible twos....he still has the most precious and funny moments in the world!  Pictures and Videos are soon to come!!

Long Overdue!

Hi there fellow friends and family!

This post is long overdue for those of you who like to follow the updates in our lives!  I apologize for the lack of writing!  You would think...since I have the summer off from work with paid vacation....I would have gotten more put up on this blog, ha-ha!  Maybe once you read the update though, you will understand!

We have been in the process of a move!  We have been moving from a beautiful duplex home to sadly, a more commercial town-home.  Unfortunately, for those of you who didn't know our previous landlord decided his daughter was going to live there instead.  Under the time limit we had we went with what was in our budget range and what could be found.  So, we are now in a two story, three bedroom, 2.5 bath townhouse.  We haven't really been able to call it home yet, as there are boxes everywhere!  Even though we have been moving since the middle of June...we still haven't managed to finish it all!

It has been quite different living in this new place...now we have stairs, of which I have slid down with Noah in my arms and scraped up my leg terribly bad.  That was within the first week and the wound has almost healed.  About two days later after that....I slipped on water in the kitchen and scraped up my knee...not healed yet.  Oh the joys of having the nickname Murphy...Steven sure picked a good name for me!

Along with the move we have two new additions to our family!  A 4 1/2 month old pup, Aiden Cavalier Daniel.  He is a Siberian Husky mix.  We adopted him from the SPCA so they were unsure of the mix, but we are almost positive it is German Shepherd.  The other addition is a 3 month old kitten, Coraline (Cora) Daniel.  She is sweet as can be and just loves playing with the dog and Noah.  So we have quite a rowdy household now!  Maybe this would be the reason nothing has gotten accomplished!

Now, I will make another post with updates on our little cuddle-monkey!  Pictures are to come!  As well as videos hopefully!
